When we got our Buick the radio did not work. Some times we would travel pretty far and we really wanted some tunes in the car. Rather than have the original AM radio repaired we opted to put in an AM/FM stereo from a place on the internet that had them available. They fit in the dash the same as a stock radio, no cutting required. I removed the stock radio and installed the new one with little effort. The original power antenna had been replaced earlier and was in working order. Removing the stock radio also removes the front speaker as thay are all one unit. We ran speaker wires under the tattered carpet to the trunk then mounted two speakers on the rear package tray.
The reception was not that great and neither was the sound that was produced. But now we had something to listen to on our trips. We did not go cheap on the stereo, it just did not work as advertised. We decided it would do until we found what we wanted.
