By submitting your information to this site you make this site more helpful for your next cousin. Either a text format or a gedcom format is acceptable. We are using the Rootsweb World Connect Archives for storage of our Gedcoms.

Please submit your genealogy in gedcom format, if possible. Most genealogy software programs have the ability to convert your data to ged com. If your genealogy software program is not listed below, please contact Judy and I will try to help. If you need a free genealogy program, go to the site http://www.familysearch.org/ and select "Order/Download Products" to download the free LDS PAF 4.0 .

What is a gedcom file?
The purpose of a gedcom is to simplify the exchange of computerized genealogical information. It is a standardized format created by the LDS church to be used to share genealogical data. A Gedcom is a type of data file created by you on your computer that is a convenient way to share genealogical information among interested parties.

To convert your gedcom to html, for uploading to personal web pages, this site has a free downloadable version that is easy to use:

Genealogy Software Program Instructions:

  • Family Tree Maker If you have family tree maker, then you can make a gedcom to upload and share with others if you wish. If you are uncertain of how to do this:(the symbol > represents one step) Open ftm: File>copy/export>Save as type: GEDCOM>save. A Export to GEDCOM window will pop up: Destination: PAF, GEDCOM: Version 5.5, Character set: IBMPC, >save. By default, the program will save it in FTW, but you can change the destination to your desktop if you wish. You can also download a gedcom BUT don't download the new gedcom into an exisiting gedcom until you are sure of the information.
Regarding text format: With family tree maker, you can also make a genealogy report, copy it and save it in your word processor program (like MS Word, etc) and then you have it at the ready to copy it and send it to the list or to interested potential cousins without having to retype the information everytime. Or you can just type up the information you want to share or obtain, save it as a .txt, or .rtf file and copy it and paste it into your email
  • Generations Family Tree. Go to file, then > import ged or export ged. When you import a gedcom, create a new family file in your program, then import the ged. It opens up and you can search the file to see the new info. Then copy the new info to your original family file, if you agree with it and the sources are there.
