What is a gedcom file?
The purpose of a gedcom is to simplify the exchange of computerized
genealogical information. It is a standardized format created
by the LDS church to be used to share genealogical data. A Gedcom
is a type of data file created by you on your computer that is
a convenient way to share genealogical information among interested
parties.
To convert your gedcom to html, for uploading to personal
web pages, this site has a free downloadable version that is easy
to use:

history and genealogy research on the World Wide Web. http://www.gendex.com/
