In the name of God Amen I John McKnight of the Township of Midleton County of Cumberland & Province of Pennsylvania being very sick and weak in Body but of a perfect mind & memory Praise to God for his mercies and calling to mind the mortallity of the Body do make this my last will & testament in manner following
Viz I recommend my soul into the Hands of God who gave it & my Body to be buried in the Earth in a christian and decent manner at ye discretion of my Exr afternamed I order it is my will that all my Just debts & funeral charges be paid & adjusted
I order it is my Will that all my Estate Real and Personal be sold to ye best advantage so soon as my Exrs think proper (or a majority of them), provided it be done within the space of four years next insuing my Decease, and I do hereby impower my executors or a majority of them or ye survivors of them to sell assign convey & make over my Lands to any person or persons that may purchase ye same, & ye moneys arising by virtue of said sale of my real & personal Estate I dispose of in ye following maner
I give and bequeath to my dearly & well beloved wife Mary ye sum of three hundred Pounds together with her bed & furniture, a new hunting saddle, a Bridle, a set of china Tea cups, half the Puther in my house, & half a dozen silver Tea spoons & Tongs in full for her Dower I give and bequeath to my son John ye sum of Three hundred Pounds
& my Silver Watch I give & bequeath to my son David the sum of two hundred Pounds & my silver handled sword
I give & bequeath to my Daughter Mary the sum of One hundred & fifty Pounds with a Hunting sadle, a Bridle, one set of Tea cups in the house, half a dozen silver Tea spoons & Tongs
I give and bequeath to my daughter Jean the sum of one hundred & fifty Pounds all the Residue & remainders of my Estate I order & it is my will it be equally divided between my son David, my Daughters Mary and Jean share & share alike
I order & it is my will that as much of my son Johns Moneys as is
sufficient to carry him through with the Learning be raised for & applied to his use from time and time
I also order & it is my will that my Daughter Marys portion be raised as soon as conveniently it can be done, allowing a reasonable time to any purchaser of my lands to pay the price of them in at the discretion of my Exrs &
I do hereby constitute & apoint my loving wife Mary, my trusty friends John McClure & William Moore & John Byers Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revocking & disannulling all former Wills by me made ratifying and confirming this & to be my last will & Testament
In witness wherof I have hereunto set my Hand & seal the 13th
April 1768.
Signed, sealed, published, pronounced, & declared by the Testator in presence of us the subscribers who signed our names as witnesses in his presence & in presence of one & another.
