AMERICAN LEAGUE's best player of the week was Milwaukee's
Fred Lynn,
who wins the award for the 4th time in his career. Lynn helped his team with
an average of .478 and 5 RBI in 23 at bats. This year Lynn drove in 19 and
scored 27 runs while batting .317 with 6 longballs. The Orioles after a slow
start are 19-18 and now 6gb the AL East division leading Redsox. Mickey
Tettleton has 14 homers for the Orioles. The Whitesox used a 7-3 run to take
a 2 game lead on the Brewers/Twins in the Central. Randy Lerch continues to
impress after winning 20 last season. He is currently 5-1 with a 1.95era.
The Mariners are 26-11, the best record in the CJBL right now. Alan Knicely
hitting cleanup for the Mariners is batting .368 13hr and 30rbi.

Robin
Yount from Cincinnati wins his 7th Player of the Week award for putting
up the best numbers this week in the NATIONAL LEAGUE. Robin was on fire,
hitting .419 with 4 HR and 9 RBI. Robin has gone 50 for 147 (.340) this
season, hitting 11 taters and driving in 33 runs. He has scored 30 runs on
his own. He's 10th in the NATIONAL LEAGUE in batting, 4th in homeruns and
3rd in RBI! The Mets 21-16 (Really this is not a misprint) lead the NL East
by 2 games. Barry Bonds despite hitting .254 (8hr 28rbi) has drawn raves
reviews from other GM's around the league. The Reds hold a 1 game lead on
the surging Expos. Veteran Jim Otten with 7svs has booted last seasons
sensation John Franco out of the closers job. The Astros 20-17 are in 1st in
the NL West. Pete Ladd (who?) has been a stud with a 3-0 record, 9svs and
.57era.

Friday 5/10/1986:

Berenguer out for full season
MINNESOTA - Minnesota's right-hander
Juan
Berenguer will not pitch again this year, suffering a serious injury
in the game against Detroit on Friday. After x-rays were taken the
diagnosis did not surprise many: Ruptured Disc Back. Surgery will be
performed next week. This season Berenguer compiled an ERA of 4.20,
going 3-0 in 8 starts. He fanned 38 while giving up 41 hits in 45
innings.

Friday 5/10/1986: Chicago(A)'s Stanhouse out for 4-5
weeks
CHICAGO(A) - Chicago(A)'s right-hander
Don
Stanhouse suffered a severe injury on Friday and will be out for at
least 4-5 weeks. In the 2nd of the game against Baltimore he experienced
pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After being taken to
a local hospital, Stanhouse was examined by specialists. The diagnosis
revealed the sad truth, a Bone Chips Shoulder. This season Stanhouse
compiled an ERA of 4.38, going 1-2 in 7 starts. He fanned 27 while
giving up 37 hits in 37 innings.
