A church that cares - Service to the Community

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Rev. Sandy Schaller

Welcome!

We're so glad you are visiting our site.  We would like to invite you to join us.

Centralia United Methodist Church is a congregation on a spiritual journey.  We are also on a journey of service to God and humanity through worship, Christian education, missions, stewardship, and evangelism.

As a church, as well as individuals, our purpose is to reach out to people as they are, receive them in our membership and friendship circles, help them relate to God, develop as disciples of Christ, and send them out into the world to serve God and humanity.

Come grow with us.

è Volunteer's In Mission (VIM) Fund Raiser - Anchor Festival
Our church is planning a Mission trip to Honduras in the summer of 2009.  As you can imagine, this will be an expensive endeavor.  We are beginning our "fund raising" right away with a plan to offer cinnamon rolls, various kinds of fruit pies, milk and juice during the up-coming Anchor Fest.  As in our previous work camps we can all be a part of the team.  Even those of us who are not a part of the traveling team we can be just as important to the effort as those who are.  We need volunteers to make cinnamon rolls and fruit pies.  If you can help, please contact the church office 682-6888.

Urban and Rural Camp Out - July 25-26.
The Urban and Rural Sunday School class invites their church family to join them for their annual "camp-out" to be held again this year at Mark Twain Lake.  Please call Nathan Chitwood or Amanda Erisman to let them know of your plans to join them.

     Mission Trip
It has been decided, the Mission Trip in 2009 will be to Honduras. Our church will be working down there and and it is a great chance to not only provide service, but to broaden your horizons by meeting and working with people from a different culture.  More information will be coming along as plans begin to form.  If you are interested in joining this group, please contact the church office - 573-682-3434.

è
New Pew Bibles
It's Time for new Bibles for our pews.  The New Revised Standard version of the Holy Bible has been out for a few years and has become the standard translation used in the United Methodist Church.  The Council on Ministries and Administrative Board have recommended putting the new translation in our pews.  This would be a good time for each of us to buy a Bible in honor or as a memorial to our loved ones.  For only $10 per Bible your loved one can be honored.  Call the church office for information - 573-682-3434.

New Handbells
An anonymous donor has bought a new three octave set of handbells and is donating them to our church.

We are looking forward to the fun and ministry that a set of handbells offers our church.  Be watching and
listening for a preview of the bells this summer and give yourself a treat.  Plan to come and join us and
learn how to ring handbells.  It's great fun!
