Levi's Birth Story

Once upon a time my mommy felt a contraction. It was about 10:00am on Thursday, October 24th, 1996. Daddy had just left with a friend and was really quite unreachable. "Well," my mommy thought, "first pregnancies usually have longer labors, so we'll wait and see how far apart they are." She waited.... and waited.... the contractions seemed to be about 8 minutes apart. She waited some more to see if they were going to get closer together. Nope, Daddy came home about 4:30pm. Still contractions were about 8 min apart. All night the contractions were about 8 minutes apart. Picking up intensity and not allowing mommy to sleep (even though daddy seemed to have no problem at all getting to sleep, or so my mommy told me =-) ) Well, its now Friday, mommy and daddy decide to go for a walk. They were told that this was supposed to make everything go faster. About 1 and a half blocks down the road mommy starts having a very bad pain. Her hip had slipped out of joint. So they headed back home because she was having a really hard time walking. Back at home she tried to walk around the house as much as possible the contractions being about 7 minutes apart, but REALLY increasing in intensity. They continued to wait. About 2:00am on Saturday morning, they headed to my Great Grandma's house, because she lived in the same town as the hospital, and it was about 30 min from mommy's house. Her contractions were about 5 min. apart. By 3:00am the contractions were about 3 min apart. At the hospital we walked up to the maternity ward, and got all the prep work done. Since I was the only baby being born that night mommy got all the attention she wanted, and even a little that she didn't, but that was ok. They kept asking if mommy wanted any drugs, she thinks they wished she would have so they would all have something to do. She still insisted no, she didn't need them. Since her doctor was in Florida (he was going to be back Sunday night, and mommy was to be induced on Monday morning,) mommy got the doctor on call. So in the delivery room there was Doctor Miller, Grandma Cindi, Daddy, Deanna (my mommy's student nurse that followed her throughout her pregnancy,) nurses, and of course mommy. At 10:30am mommy started pushing, at 10:50am I was born, all 9lbs 8oz of me. I recieved a 9 on my first apgar test, and I got a 10 on the next. Perfectly healthy and happy. Mommy was so happy, but most of all she was SO tired. But I guess after about 49 hours of labor anyone would be. She slept for 3 hours and then the visitors started, and she hasn't had hardly a moments peace since.
