Invitations:

  • You can get a picture of Blue and copy that onto construction paper. Make it so that the ears fold over and write the info under her ears. Decorate the rest.

  • Make a magazine cover. Here is an example of what we did for my son's Blue's Clues Birthday
  • Send a post card with pictures of 3 clues leading to your birthday party. Be sure to place a paw print on each clue. Write out the specifics though. You could also do this in a "handy dandy notebook," which the kids could bring to the party.

  • Decorations:

  • To make decorations easy I suggest one of the first things you do is go and buy a new coloring book, try to find one with large, clear, and basic designs. From this buy some foam-core or some tagboard. Make large versions of the characters from Blue's Clues and tape them up to the wall, or make a stand for some of them and have them standing on tables, floor, etc... Not only are these fairly easy, but after the party, your child will LOVE you when you put these up in his/her room! Make the enlarging easy by going to the copy shop.

  • A balloon bouquet is great too. I suggest getting one Blue's Clues one and dark and light plain blue ones. It makes an excellent color scheme.

  • Get bright red cups and yellow spoons. Draw faces on them, then they will look like Pail and Shovel.

  • Buy some new cheap dog bowls and put the children's names on them with paint pens. You can personalize as much as you'd like.

  • With chalk or cardboard cut outs put paw prints on the sidewalk up to your door, so the kids know where the party is at!

  • Party Hats:

  • A wonderful idea that the kids will love is to make out of fun foam Blue's face and ears. You can either attatch it with elastic, or even better is to attatch them to inexpensive sun visors.
  • Get solid light blue hats and with either markers or round dark blue stickers add spots.

  • Take Home Goodies:
    Bag/Container-

  • Red sand pail and yellow shovel
  • Light blue or white lunch bags with blue paw prints on them
  • Goodies-

  • "Handy Dandy Notebook", make copies of the thinking chair and paste them onto a green notebook. Place a crayon on the top.
  • Mott's Blue's Clues Applesauce
  • Chalk
  • Character's figurines
  • Make felt friends our of felt and place magnets on the back
  • Blue's Clues coloring book or pages and some crayons
  • Blue Gushers fruit snacks
  • Bubbles (the plain clear ones they give out at some weddings work great. You can even decorate them!)
  • Blue's Clues toothbrushes
  • Party visors (if you decided to make them)
  • You can also make T-shirts. Use your computer and design something really great. (If you have a digital camera, you can even add a pic of the birthday boy/girl and guest to the shirt.) Have these made up before the party or have someone print them on transfer paper or run to the copy shop and iron them on during the party so they can take them home with them! Get biger sized ones and they can wear them as night shirts or swimsuit cover ups.
  • Stickers
  • Make bone shaped sugar cookies with blue frosting and the child's name on it.
