Washcloth Roses (these can be special presents for the mom-to-be, favors, or just decorations that the mom-to-be can keep and use later) |
It takes some patience, but you fold a small washcloth into the shape of a rose bud, then you tie it, with a ribbon onto a sturdy floral stem and add a leaf or two. Absolutely gorgeous. (Hoping to get better instructions on soon. Maybe even a picture.) |

In The Bathroom This is usually forgotten to a point, but this really needs decorating to a point, and a good clean. Everyone will probably be in here at least once. |
You can do something as simple as make sure your guest hand towels are out and maybe place a small vase of pretty flowers in the bathroom. It gives the guest something to look at, and keeps the festive feeling all through the house. |

Food Questions You've planned out the menu and now its paying off. Everyone is begging for the recipes, but you don't want to draw away from the guest of honor. |
Make out at least one recipe card out (very legibly) for each dish you've made. Then you can have some blank cards out so if someone likes it they can just copy it down and not take away from the party. |

Place Cards/Candy Cups Here is one idea for a candy cup that can be personalized for a place card also. |
Recycle those old baby food jars. Fill them with candies or potpouri. If you fill it with candy cover the jar lid with a bit of batting and a scrap of fabric. Finish with a bit of trim. You can personalize with paint pens. If you fill the jar with potpouri then you don't need the lid, and cover with a scrap of fabric and secure with a few dollops of hotglue and tie a ribbon around. The smell will seep through the fabric. |

Delicious Sweets A wonderful tasting and looking treat that is easy to make is chocolate (white and dark) covered pretzels. They will be gobbled up fast. You may want to set them out in shifts. |
Melt white or dark chocolate in a bowl in the microwave stirring until smooth. Dip the pretzels pull out and let cool on wax paper. Melt candy melts (these are at the craft stores in the cake decorating area, they have tons of colors so choose whatever goes with your decor) Lightly drizzle the melted melts over the pretzels and allow to cool on waxed paper. If its warm store in the fridge. (We make these for all occasions, its a family tradition!) |

Thank You Cards Thank you cards are an absolute must for the mom-to-be to send out after the shower, but during the shower they aren't neccessarily on her mind. She is having a good time (hopefully) so this is a way that you can make it a little easier for her. |
Before the shower the hostess purchases at least enough lovely thank you cards for everyone comming to the party. (If you purchase more I'm possitive that she will be able to use them too.) As the guests arrive you have them print on the envelope their name and address. (These can be placed in a basket and chossen later as a door prize.) Then have someone (or two) write down the items she has gotten and from who. This way after the shower she is able to send out the thank you's accurately and to the correct addresses. Mom will be sure to appreciate taking a lot of the worry out of this task. |
