Brian finally has his truck!

I have wanted a 1956 ford f-100 as long as I can remember. My neighbor had one he was restoring in his garage before I ever had a drivers license. Well....it took me a long time, but I finally have one. Its not perfect by any means, but its a pretty solid old truck for its age.

Here are a few pictures that were taken November 19th. That is the day my father and I went to Sevierville, TN to get it.

This is the next evening after we returned home.

We towed it 620 miles with my 2001 ford explorer.

Now let me tell you a little bit about the truck. It is very close to stock. It has the original 272 Y-block V8 engine with a 3 speed (manual) transmission on the column. It does not have power steering or power brakes. It has the original seat in it (recovered) as well as the original speedometer and steering column. The radiator and everything appears to be original.

It is a running truck. All we (my father and I) have done to it is rebuild the master cylinder. I changed the oil and air filter. I was cleaning on it, but the weather turned cold.

What else does it need to be street legal?  First off I need to put the windshield wipers on it. Once its drivable (legally) it needs tires. They have great tread, but are very weather cracked. It will probably need other things once I start driving it, but we will get to those as they come along.

The truck is solid with no visible rust. Everything has a ton of paint or primer on it. Sanding will be a chore, but much better than rust. There is some body filler in a few spots that I will remove. The panels will be straightened better and redone. The windshield is ok for now, but will need to be replaced at some point. Both door wing glasses are bubbled, but no cracks. They will be fine for now. The rear glass is new. Most of the things that needed work have been done already. Its still a 49 year old truck though and has been used as a truck for a long time.

The inside of the bed has been redone. The strips are new black ones with shiny bolt heads. The wood is the plywood that is used for concrete forms. It look ok, but is stained. At least water won't hurt it.

The frame of the truck was cleaned and painted with some kind of rust inhibitor. It is pitted, but it appears to have stopped all the rust from re-forming. Almost everything on the truck has been off at one point in time. Everything is painted underneath. All new fasteners are all over it. New gaskets and weather strips are in (doors, gas tank, etc.).

Engine: (note: I did not take these-will be replaced soon)

Interior: (same note)

Exterior: (same note) I do have new "dog dish" hub caps as well.

Again, I just want to state that these pictures were given to me by the previous owner. I will take new and better ones and update this page soon.
