This application was necessary due to customer contracts, state laws, and non-centralized distribution constraints.

Contracted as a senior independent consultant to design, code, test, and implement IBM AS/400 JD Edwards World custom applications.  These applications included the vendor catalogs application which allowed the receipt of vendor information into JD Edwards custom tables using the Universal File Converter (UFC) via a custom formatted Excel spreadsheet for small vendors or the Sterling GenTran ANSI ASC X12 Release 4010 832 transaction set for large vendors.  This information could then be system edited, user edited, and selectively transferred to the production JDE item, cost, price and cross-reference masters.

Contracted as a senior independent consultant to convert IBM/Lotus’s SAP sales order, account receivable, item master, bill of material, and routing databases to Banta’s AS/400 JD Edwards One World system.  Responsibilities also included creating EDI transactions for purchase orders, sales orders, acknowledgments, inventory transactions, and shipment confirmations. These transactions are transmitted using IBM’s MQ Series. The JDE customer service module was modified to allow multiple methods of complex quoting and pricing along with special handling for third party order returns.  Logistics Pro was modified to accommodate special bar code shipping label requirements for international orders.  Reconciliation and follow-up reports were also created.  All programs were designed, coded, tested, and documented using JD Edwards standards.

Contracted as a senior independent consultant to design, code, test, and implement a new custom JD Edwards One World application which would allow LKQ to better purchase and receive into inventory automotive parts.  This application included item bidding, which used bill of material explosions in a spreadsheet manner with historical inventory statistics.  Click technology was used for receiving selected bid items.  Responsibilities also included modifications of the customer service and purchasing modules along with related reports (UBEs) so that they would be integrated with this new application.

Redesigned and rewrote COBOL based shop floor packet print to RPG/400.  Packet print included the following document creating programs: Routing, operation (bar coded), material issue, bill of material, setup instructions, inspection instructions, engineering and manufacturing drawings, NMAR, packets printed, and pick tickets.  Redesigned and rewrote COBOL based work in process, labor, and quality assurance systems to RPG/400.

Contracted solely to convert, enhance, and fix a property management/financial software package called PropMan.  PropMan was used to manage all aspects of commercial office building, condominium, and apartment rentals.  Conversion was from PC DOS to AS/400 RPG/400.  Enhancements and fixes included:  unlimited suite support, user definable charges by property, shared property allocations, LMR (last months rent/deposit) interest processing, pending tenant handling, NSF special handling, manual adjustment posting, suite transaction history, tenant transfer, etc.  Reports included:  monthly rent roll, adjustments, LMR adjustments, LMR history, check register, tenant history, parking and storage assignments, tenant lists by name or suite, rent increase notice to tenant(s), rent edit audit showing manual overrides of rental charges, etc.

Contracted solely to convert a S/36 shop data collection system feeding MAPICS I to native AS/400 mode feeding MAPICS/DB. Conversion entailed converting and rewriting RPGII and RPGII 1/2 to RPG/400.  This system created off-line files for the MAPICS/DB Product Cost Control and Payroll applications.  This system also created audit trail reports for supervisors as well as files to be used by other labor tracking programs.

Contracted to work with a team converting MAPICS I to MAPICS/DB.  Major enhancements and modifications were made to MAPICS/DB to better fit the way Norwesco does business.  The order entry and invoicing applications were completely rewritten.  One of the many responsibilities for this project was to create a subsystem that would more specifically allow various types of shipping for order entry line items and pick list configurations.  Because of the size spectrum that Norwesco's products have, this was needed to allow multiple partial orders on specific carrier's trucks.

Contracted to work with a team converting a homegrown S/36 order entry and distribution package to AS/400 native mode. Conversion entailed S/36 multiple record format database analysis to create a standard AS/400 database.  All displays and programs were converted to use SAA and CUE standards.  Subfiles, for performance considerations, were added to eliminate array processing and I/O operations.

Contracted to work on a conversion from an IBM 4381 Mainframe to an IBM AS/400 Midrange computer.  Software conversion mainly consisted of converting a homegrown MRP system to Pansophic PRMS.  Most of the PRMS system had to be tailored and enhanced to meet the needs of the way Ingersoll-Rand does business.  Was placed in charge of converting a stand-alone subsystem that handles warranty claims.  Conversion of software was a total rewrite, keeping or enhancing current functions.  All conversions were from COBOL to RPG/400.
