have spent many an hour gazing at the night sky
and humming the tune"Home on the Range."
The question asked in verse:
"How often at night when the heavens are bright,
With the light of the glittering stars,
Have I stood there amazed and asked as I gazed,
Does their beauty exceed that of ours?"
has been adequately answered by photos from NASA!

If you want to learn about our solar system the site "The Nine Planets" by Bill Arnett is a favorite. This wonderful tour is for everyone, not just the over-educated. It also provides links to many resources on the web. This site seems to have taken many awards, so many that the Beach Bums didn't have time to investigate all of them!
If you're looking for a program to guide you through the stars, try downloading "Home Planet" The author of this free program is co-author of the well-known, highly acclaimed CAD program "AutoCAD".
An all-encompassing list of astronomy related links is found at the Univ. of Calif. Berkely site of Astronomy URL's. It will lead you to all of the above and many, many more.
This is the November 1999 page . (Obviously, the Beach Bums are unable to do this on a monthly basis. From now on we will just forget the dates.)
