Autumn

Autumn is a beautiful time of year - the glowing leaves, the crisp smoky air, and the frosts that turn each stalk of grass into a jagged blade of white. The trees blush with apples, and pumpkins and squash peep out of the garden. It is a blend of summer and winter, warm sunshine mingled with swirling snow.

As the season unfolds, I remember this verse:

Like a scarecrow in a melon patch, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk. Do not fear them; they can do no harm, nor can they do any good . . . But God made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding. Jeremiah 10:5, 12.

In changing leaf and frozen stream, I see the fingerprints of an awesome, creative God.

Before I go any farther, let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Amy Beth Roe and I am sixteen-years-old. I was born in Saginaw, Michigan; two years later we moved to Saginaw, Minnesota. At the age of three I picked up a crayon and started scribbling on a scrap of paper. I haven't stopped writing since.

When I was fourteen, I went on my first mission trip to Mexico. This summer I spent a month in Lima, Peru with Teen Mania Ministries (see article). When I came back, I started taking *PSEO classes at Lake Superior College.
I'm looking forward to sharing more with you in the future. Until the next issue, God bless! --

*PSEO stands for Post Secondary Educational Opportunities. It is a FREE program for Minnesota Juniors and Seniors whereby they may enroll in college classes for both high school and college credit. Specific information for each college is obtained by calling the college's admission office. It is important to start the process early. A suggested time frame might be to contact a college in January when the student is in 10th grade. An application has to be filled out and a test taken.
