The Paper Mache Puppy
By Kally Ross - age 11
There once was a paper mache puppy. He was the cutest! He had a brown body made from a box, a round head made from a coffee can, floppy paper mache ears, a long tail, and pencil legs.
A little girl named Kelly made him. She loved her new little puppy. She named him Francis. The little paper mache puppy always sat on a pillow that Kelly made for him in her bed room. She had a dog dish for him and even a collar and leash."I wish you were a real dog," said Kelly. She was sad because she could not have a dog because she had allergies.
Somehow, when she snuggled him close, he became something he could not. A real dog! Kelly would fall asleep with Francis in her arms. She would dream long dreams of her and Francis playing and skipping in the meadows. Her dreams were the best. And when she would wake up it would seem so real. Kelly had many of these dreams. She brought Francis wherever she went.
When she got married, she taught her children how to make paper mache puppies. She remembered all these things till she was very old. And her children taught their children and their children's children how to make little paper mache puppies and they remembered them till they were very old.
