Recently my nephew and I attended a political rally in Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the Constitution Party. Since my childhood, sage wisdom dictated that there were two topics one must never engage in, for they were sure to start a fight. These two topics are nothing new to you because most likely you were raised with the same sage wisdom. Religion and politics -- don't discuss religion and politics. Well, I say let's break with sage wisdom and discuss a little religion and politics. These two are the interwoven fibers that make up the fabric of any society, ours included. But there has been a dismantling of these two fibers in our society. The timing of, or when this began, I cannot pinpoint. It has been a couple of decades from the time I became conscious of this eroding. Those preceding me in age would claim the erosion has been taking place a lot longer than that. This, then, is a problem, for our nation's fabric was interwoven by the fibers of religion and politics. What has set our nation apart from its inception in comparison to all other nations, barring Israel, is its constitution, its framing of laws regulating one people in their society. Also, our Bill of Rights for the protection, prosperity, and peace of its citizens from tyranny sets us apart. Our constitution and our Bill of Rights (our politics) are based in the benevolence of Divinity. These two fibers then, religion and politics, have been the patriotic glue that has bound this nation in its formation. It causes one's love for country; the passion which aims to serve one's country either in defending it from invasion, or protecting its rights and maintaining its laws and institutions in vigor and purity. Yet it is manifestly evident that in every facet of our society there is a tearing down to segregate the secular and sacred or the political and religious from one another. With this tearing and segregating there is an open hostility toward the religious. The error that is taking place in our nation is a battle for understanding our heritage, and that you cannot separate religion from politics. To do so creates chaos. The two mainstream political parties have been promoting this dismantling. Don't believe me? Ask yourself, "what is the difference between the two political parties?" On the one hand, you have the Democrats who have "man exploiting man", and on the other hand, you have the Republicans who do just the reverse of the Democrats. The only difference is that the Democrats appear to be National Socialists. They exploit Americans against Americans: race envy, wage envy, etc. Meanwhile the Republicans are International Socialists. They exploit Americans against other nations: NAFTA, GATT, WTO, etc. As I close this article I want to leave you with a viable third choice in the Constitution Party. I'll state briefly its platform and introduce you to its candidate. First, the Constitution Party supports: 1. Sanctity of Life, including that of the unborn. 2. Withdrawal from the New World Order; the repeal of NAFTA/GATT/WTO. 3. Abolition of the IRS and the Federal Income Tax. 4. A moratorium on immigration until federal welfare programs are ended. 5. Getting the federal government out of education. 6. The right to keep and bear arms. 7. An immediate balancing of the federal budget. Secondly, the candidate for the Constitution Party is Mr. Howard Phillips. Mr. Phillips is married with six children and six grandchildren. Mr. Phillips left the Republican Party in 1974 after some two decades of service to the GOP. This included everything from precinct worker, to head of the Republican Party in Boston, to the head of two federal agencies in the Nixon administration. When President Nixon reneged on his commitment to veto further funding of "Great Society" programs, Phillips ended his Executive Branch career. Mr. Phillips is a well seasoned politician who has the grasp on what makes the nation great and what erodes it. What does separate him from other seasoned politicians is integrity, morality, and love for his nation, virtues, which, I as a father want to pass on to my children. May I encourage you to consider the Constitution Party and Mr. Howard Phillips this election year?
