the history of the house

anne marie  and  i  moved to nw  montana  in the fall of 1994  with the goal
of  building our own bed & breakfast.  after looking for a year we  found
the   perfect  property.  we  started  building  in  the  fall  of  1995.  we  have
done  everything  ourselves and i mean  everything.  we  designed  it,  drew
the  blue  prints,  all the brick work,  the framing,  the  roof, the  plumbing,
the  electrical,  the  flooring,  the  drywall,   the  painting  and  the  land-
scaping.  the only outside  help  we got was the logs,  which only  included
the   outside   walls  ( no roof, no chinking )   and  the  septic  system ( only
licensed contractor can put them in. )

it's  been  seven  years  in  the making,  but  we  OPENED the b & b  thE summer
OF 2003. it's been a challenge. the first couple of years we were hauling
water and  using  a chemical toilet. during building i've fractured my knee
(lost a couple of weeks of working on the house ) broke my hand (worked
with a cast on ) and shattered my heal ( slowed us down for a year ).

as  you  can  see  from  the  pictures  the  house is fairly large.  it sits atop a
small mountain ( 4500' ) overlooking the valley, with views of glacier park
the  swan  mountain  range,  and  the  flathead  valley.  the  house  itself is
4500 sq.ft.  with  three  decks.   it  has  a  daylight  basement,  the main floor
with  18'  cathedral  ceilings  and  a  loft.  it has 6  bath ROOMS and 3 bedrooms
(one  in  the  loft  and  two  on  the  main  floor) a two bedroom basement
apartment  and  two  fireplaces.  so  if  anyone  would like to visit we have
lots of room.
