My biking experience is only a few years old. I had always looked on with envy at motorcyclists and wondered what it would be like to zip along. I had never even been a passenger on a bike. Since I wasn’t getting any younger, I decided one day to bite the bullet and signed up for a Madison Area Technical College safety class. I liked it!

It wasn’t long before I was running around on a slightly used Honda Rebel. Most of my riding was done in Madison doing errands or going to and from work on the University campus. The students I work with in a microfabrication research lab were impressed by my interest in motorcycles. But, after a couple of years, I felt a couple of things were missing in my riding.

One day my bike was in getting an oil change at a local dealership. To while away my wait time, I decided to browse through the showroom. As soon as I steped through the doorway, a beam of light caught my attention. There on the showroom floor was "The One." An S50 Suzuki Boulevard had my name all over it. The salesman asked, "Would you like to take a test ride?" Would I! Two hours later I drove home with my new silver dream. My husband and two children just smiled at me and shook their heads. None of them have experienced the thrill and exhilaration of riding motorcycles. Thus, my Suzuki filled one gap for bigger and better.

The next gap to fill was the adventure of riding further afield and to have someone with whom to ride. One day I was parking at work when someone approached and asked if I knew about WOW. Since I didn’t she offered to have some information forwarded. By the end 2006, I was a new member of WOW/Dairyland Originals Chapter and received a nifty package filled with WOW goodies. Though I haven’t gone on as many rides as I would like, it has been very pleasant and companionable to ride in a group. I’m looking forward to next year and maybe going on more rides through the countryside.
