Two years ago, (April 2004), my husband
joined me in retirement. We packed up our
household and moved up North in the Rhinelander area into a house we
had bought in 2003.
It is a beautiful area even in the wintertime. Our back yard is home to
8-9 deer at any
given time during the day or night. They enjoy our yard as we feed them
deer corn at least
twice a day, as do most of our neighbors. Each year sees new fawns born
and it is amazing
to watch them grow. As much as I enjoy my home and the area, I do miss
seeing family and
friends as often as I used to be able to. If you are in the area
anytime, there is always
a room available. My current ride is a 1996 750CC Magna .I
purchased this bike because it was a 4
cylinder but mostly because it is purple (which is my favorite color).
I began riding in
1985 after a trip we took to California two up on my husband’s first
Gold Wing. I was
hooked and wanted my own bike. I joined WOW in 1989 and as you say the
rest is history. I
have ridden in every state except Hawaii and have attended 12 Ride Ins.
There is no better
way to meet people, make life long friends, and see the country than on
a motorcycle.
Being a cancer survivor, I enjoy each day to the fullest whether on the
bike or not.
For those of you who don’t already
know
me, my name is Darlene Anderson. I am 60
years old and have been married to my husband, Bruce, for 42 years. We
have 4 children, 8
grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren. With a group this size, family
gatherings are fun,
exciting and unpredictable.
