Summer at Interlochen was like being in a beautiful giant bubble. The bubble is filled with music and friends.  You wake up in the morning to music and go to bed hearing music. Inside the bubble, no one is unhappy. Everyone is laughing and having fun and music is everywhere. You hear music when you wake up and you go to bed hearing music because someone is practicing  in one of the hundreds of beautiful stone practice huts.

You know that outside the bubble there is war, sadness, and problems; but, you can't see them. Inside the bubble you are surrounded by people just like you and they are best friends. They all love music:  The Beatles, Jewel, Avrill Lavigne, and  Mozart.

I had the perfect cabin at Interlochen. There were twelve of us and Rachel, our counselor, who was more  like a friend than a counselor.  All the girls were nice, kind and fun to be with but each had their own personality.
Front Row
Lily _ Hat Woman. She appeared to be shy the first day. But, oh boy was she funny! "Screw you, and your damn Union!"
Leah_ Party Girl    Leah was the a party waiting to happen. She would go up and start a conversation with anyone. Girls could use her to get introduced to guys.
Sarah_Rising Star. That's me. Or at least what I hope. I was the lucky one. I got to spend a whole month with the greatest group of girls in Interlochen -CABIN 4
Emily_Brave. Emily wasn't afraid of anything.... bugs or toilets. ( She rescued Miriams badge from the toilet) Emily played trumpet, harp, piano and sang.

Alex_Beatles Fanatic. Alex loves the Beatles, Scottish people and The Lord of The Rings.
Her dream is to have a Scottish guy with Beatles hair fall in love with her. " It's midnight in Scotland.."
Amy_John Lennon. Amy did  the perfect impression of John Lennon. She would comb her bangs over her face and entertain us. She was so funny. She wore a duck shower cap.
LeAnn_Houdini.  LeAnn disappeared all the time. We hardly saw her. When we did see her she was constantly folding her clothes. She loves to organize and fold clothes.
Miriam_Random Thoughts. Miriam was hilarious. She would never raise her voice (except when she dropped her badge in the toilet) She always came up with the craziest questions. "What is the inside of your elbow called?"

Sonya_ The Leader. Sonya always had to be in charge of things; But, never in the morning! She didn't like getting up in the morning. She never got used to the time change. At night, when we were all tired, Sonja would be wound up.
Teresa_Penalty Queen. Teresa was great at cards. And, she was the best artist I have ever seen. She loves to doodle.
Nancy_ Pop Queen. She  was a choreographer. She would hear a song and make an entire dance to it in seconds. She was quiet but when she had something to say... Pay attention.. it was important!.
Catherine_ Easy Going. Catherine was quiet and she agreed with everything and everyone. She did a great imitation of Nicole Kidman "I will always love youuuuuuuuuuu"
 
 

(Rachel)

Rachel  Our Beloved Counselor. She was the sweetest counselor. We shall never forget her. She was like a mom and best friend rolled into one. She was always willing to get whatever you needed. On her day off she stayed an extra hour just to hear how our day was. "Thorns and Roses."
