VINEYARD GENETIC CODE |
Ten ministries we view as essential |
| 1. Clear, accurate Biblical Teaching | We want to hear and obey
God's Word. God wants us to be
"doin'-the-stuff." (Romans 15:4, 2Timothy
3:16-17, Matthew 7:24-27, James 1:22, Acts 2:42) |
| 2. Contemporary Worship in the freedom of the Holy Spirit | We
desire Spirit-enabled worship that is intimate, dynamic,
and in a culture current musical style. We affirm the
expressions of worship observed in Scripture (ie.
clapping, standing, raised hands, kneeling, dancing).
(Phil 3:3, Heb 13:15, Eph 5:18-20, Psa 42:1-2, Psa 150,
1Cor 9:19-23). |
| 3. The gifts of the Holy Spirit in Operation | In our families, in our
small groups, in prayer ministry times, and during our
corporate worship times, we want the Holy Spirit to
manifest grace and power through the various gifts. (1
Corinthians 12:4-11 & 28, 14:1, 26-33, 39-40, Romans
12:6-8) |
| 4. An active smallgroup ministry | We seek
to develop real, lifegiving friendships together, and to
establish people in Christ so that they know freedom from
past entanglements and find wholeness in Him. We believe
that by itself, the large Sunday morning meeting is not
enough to accomplish the two purposes of genuine
fellowship and discipleship. (Hebrews 3:12-14, Romans 12,
John 17:21, Acts 20:20, 5:42) |
| 5. Ministry to the poor, widows, orphans, and those who are broken | A strong theme of the
early church was concern for the poor. We encourage each
person and family to help the poor. Corporately we have a
food pantry for those in need, and occasionally as the
need arises we help out families in need. (Acts 2:45,
6:1-6, 9:36, 10:4, 24:17, Heb 13:16, Proverbs 14:31,
19:17, 21:13, 28:27, 31:9) |
| 6.Physical healing with emphasis on signs and wonders as seen in the book of Acts | The
book of Acts notes over 60 supernatural events, such as
healings, prophecies, visions, angelic visits, or signs
and wonders. We encourage prayer for healing, the variety
of prophetic gifts, and signs and wonders as seen in the
book of Acts. (James 5:14-16, Luke 9:2 & 10:9, Acts
2:17-18 & 43; 4:30; 5:12; 6:8; 8:6-8; 8:29; 9:324-35;
10:10 & 19; 13:2; 14:3; 18:9; 19:6 & 11-12; 20:12
-"in every city"; 22:17-18; 23:11; John 14:12;
Mark 16:15-18) |
| 7. A Commitment to Missions - church planting at home and abroad | We want to make an effort
to serve beyond the local church and we believe that the
best way to expand the Kingdom of God is through the
plantin;g of local churches - here in our area or
partnering with others to do that abroad. (Luke 10:1-9,
Matt 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Rev 5:9-10). |
| 8. Unity with the whole Body of Christ | We aim
to act in love and humility toward all members of the
Body of Christ. We desire unity in spirit of all
believers in each community. We express this by having
relationships with other local churchein our area,
attending minissterial associations, and attending joint
prayer and worship meetings. (John 13:34-35, John
17:21-23, Psalm 133). |
| 9. Evangelistic Outreach | We want to gather and win
people to Jesus Christ - by living winsome lives with our
neighbors and friends, by evangelistic messages in our
meetings, and by special outreach events. Mark 16:15-18, |
| 10. Equipping and Training the saints for the work of the ministry | It is
our desire to see all believers grow in maturity, to
discover their gifts, and to use them to glorify God. We
want the saints, not just the leaders, to be equipped to
"do the stuff." They should be equipped in
areas such as discipleship, prayer, ministry, serving,
finances, family, etc. (Romans 12:3-8, Eph. 4:16, 1Peter
3 4:10-11) |
