Era: Mid 1930's...Far left: Vernon and Bobby Skalsky
(sitting on tractor) with Dad Joe (in Bib Overalls)
standing on rear of binder. The binders were used to put the
grain in "Shocks" or "Bundles" prior to threshing.
Uncle Vernon driving tractor on the left, On the right notice the long
belt running threshing machine.
After W.W.II rubber tires were available. Large straw
pile generated from threshing.
The straw had to be hauled away and spread on the fields after the
threshing was done. The right
picture shows my Uncle Vernon loading a "manure " spreader.
