The pictures shown on this heritage page were taken in
Northwest Central Minnesota, in the "Heart" of the Red River Valley of the North. They
show the equipment and farming practices used during 1920's, 30's, and 40's. The pictures
are of threshing grain and potato harvesting. They are the results of the homesteading
done by my Great Grandfather, Joe Skalsky, in the late 1800's. His
descendants, son: Joeseph Skalsky; Grandsons: Robert K. Skalsky (my
Dad), and Vernon Skalsky, (My Uncle), farmed this same land and the original
homestead site is where my Uncle Vernon and his wife Viginia live today.
